Our EL TREBOL is a real specialty decaf.
This decaf comes from the Santander region of Colombia from the 'Women Association EL Trebol' . The women's association 'El Trebol' consists of 74 farms run by women. The women work on their farms as pickers and farm administrators. They depend on growing coffee to feed their families. The association was born out of the need to sell the coffee above the market price.
Our EL TREBOL DECAF is decaffeinated using the Sugar Cane EA method. This is a natural way to release the caffeine from the bean. Here, the raw coffee beans are first swollen with water vapor in order to facilitate the extraction of the caffeine. This is done by soaking in sugarcane ethyl acetate and then drying the bean back to the degree it was before decaffeinating.
The coffee retains most of its aromas through this process. We taste chocolate cookies, sugar cane and blackberry. The decaf has a fine acidity and a lot of sweetness. Absolutely convincing on its own or with milk or oat.
