Whether classic chocolatey, pleasantly nutty, or modern and fruity: at Schön Kaffee, you will find carefully selected espresso beans for different tastes and brewing methods. Each coffee is roasted with an individual profile so that its characteristic aromas can optimally unfold.
Which espresso suits your taste?
Choosing the right espresso beans depends primarily on how you prefer to drink your espresso. If you want a strong, full-bodied espresso with low acidity, chocolatey and nutty coffees are a good choice. They taste particularly harmonious both on their own and in combination with milk.
If, on the other hand, you enjoy discovering new aromas, fruity or more floral espressos might be interesting for you. Depending on their origin, variety, and processing method, they may remind you of berries, stone fruits, or tropical fruits, for example. Such coffees show just how diverse modern specialty coffee can be.
Our filters help you narrow down the selection by taste, origin, roast level, body, acidity, and sweetness. This way, you can more quickly find an espresso that suits your personal preferences.
Espresso beans for portafilters, fully automatic machines, and cappuccino
Our espresso roasts are particularly suitable for preparation in a portafilter. You can precisely tune the grind size, coffee dose, and extraction time to each specific bean and bring out the different aromas very clearly.
Many of our espresso beans can also deliver very good results in fully automatic machines. Well-balanced coffees with a chocolatey or nutty flavor profile are usually the most straightforward. With lighter or particularly fruity roasts, it may take a little more time until the grind size and settings are optimally aligned.
For cappuccino, flat white, or latte macchiato, we recommend espressos with sufficient body and a pronounced sweetness. Strong, chocolatey, and nutty aromas remain well-perceptible even when combined with milk. If you drink your espresso mainly black, you can focus more on your personal preferences and try more complex, fruitier coffees.
Single Origin or Espresso Blend?
A Single Origin espresso comes from a specific region of origin or a single farm. This allows the typical characteristics of its origin to be recognized particularly clearly. Single origins can taste classic and balanced, but also exceptionally fruity or floral.
In a blend, several coffees are deliberately combined. For instance, the sweetness of one coffee, the body of another, and the fine aromas of a third origin can complement each other. The result is often particularly balanced and works reliably as a pure espresso or in milk-based drinks.
There is no general answer as to which variant is better. The only deciding factor is which flavor profile you like best.
Individually roasted and transparently traded coffee
Schön Kaffee is a family business that has been roasting and selling selected specialty coffees since 2017. We want to know exactly where our coffees come from, who grew them, and under what conditions they were traded. That is why we focus on transparency and long-term relationships with producers and partners.
Every coffee brings its own characteristics due to its origin, variety, and processing. Therefore, we do not use a standardized roasting process for all beans, but rather tailor the roast profile to the respective coffee and the desired preparation method.
If you would like to learn more about this, you can find further information on our pages about transparencyand the roast profiles of our coffees.
Buy whole or ground espresso beans?
For the best possible result, we recommend ordering espresso as whole beans and grinding them just before preparation. Ground coffee loses some of its aromas more quickly due to contact with oxygen. With a suitable espresso grinder, you can also precisely adjust the grind size to your machine and the respective coffee.
If you do not have your own grinder, you can also select a suitable grind for many of our coffees. It is important that the grind matches your brewing method.

Frequently asked questions about our espresso beans
What is the difference between espresso and filter coffee beans?
Espresso and filter coffee are basically made from the same types of coffee beans. The essential difference lies in the roast profile and the subsequent preparation. Espresso roasts are tuned for short extraction under pressure and usually develop more body and intensity. Filter roasts are intended to highlight the fine and complex aromas of a coffee with a longer contact time with water.
Which espresso beans are suitable for cappuccino?
Espressos with a strong body as well as chocolatey, nutty, or caramel aromas are particularly suitable for cappuccino. These flavor notes remain well-perceptible even in combination with milk. If you prefer a fruitier cappuccino, you can of course also choose a more modern roasted espresso.
Are espresso beans suitable for fully automatic machines?
Many espresso beans can also be prepared in fully automatic machines. Well-balanced roasts with a medium or stronger roast level often work particularly well. Flavor, grind size, and machine configuration should be as well-aligned as possible.
What role does the grind size play for espresso?
The grind size determines how quickly the water flows through the coffee grounds. If the espresso runs through too quickly, the grind is often too coarse. If it runs very slowly or only in drops, it may be set too fine. Small changes to the grind size can already significantly influence the taste.
How do I store espresso beans correctly?
Keep your espresso beans dry, dark, and as airtight as possible. The refrigerator is not suitable, as coffee can absorb moisture and foreign odors there. It is best to keep the beans in their well-sealed original packaging and grind them only immediately before preparation.
